Thanks Ava! I agree with you that thinking about what we can control is a good strategy. I like the choline diet because it's based around simple foods that are easy to prepare, and I haven't had to give up the things I really love, like milk, bread, and chocolate. So far it's working really well for me; I definitely feel more "with-it" on days when I get my eggs and green veggies.

This is really good information. I'm still chasing a diagnosis for my current situation (I'm still on the fence about re-visiting more lyme treatment... ughh such an emotional rollercoaster), but thinking more about what I CAN control is helpful. I've been doing a lot of research on diet, and there's just so much conflicting information, it's hard to figure out what's best to try. I've done a tiny bit of research on choline, but I had forgotten about it. Finding this post was a good reminder. Keep up the great posts!

That's a good question, Phil. I have no idea. I strongly recommend against buying antibiotics online. There is just so much that can go wrong in terms of temperature control, etc. In the case of Rocephin/Ceftriaxone, it's clear that, reconstituted, it has a maximum shelf life of 10 days--and that's if it's refrigerated and stored in the proper container (not an IV bag). That's why I feel it's important for people to do their IV therapy under the supervision of a physician who will ensure that the antibiotics are prepared safely.

Thanks, Jeff! I'm not sure exactly how likely cross-reactivity is for B. miyamotoi and B. hermsii. I know that B. miyamotoi is more genetically similar to B. hermsii than to B. burgdorferi. It's actually most similar to B. lonestari, but we don't have a widely-available test for that one either. Ideally, someone who may have B. miyamotoi would want to do a species-specific test, but I think it's a good idea for anyone with tick exposure to get tested for B. hermsii as well.

Hey Nicole,
Thanks for stopping by! I agree it's depressing to see so many of us on the web who have been affected by tick-borne illness, but I'm grateful that I'm in good company. I've been exploring your site as well--so colorful and positive! And those adorable pups! Your Harry reminds me of my Lucy.
Take care!
